CHAPTER V
WE DEPART FOR THE SEA
SOUNDTRACK- DreamSeed
Saga Main Title
As the sun was rising, Janus,
Audrey, and Abant were all aboard Fox’s magnificent hovercraft, the Thunder
Serpent. The interior of his craft was worth the massive amount of money
Fox had paid. There were couches and tables and even a mini-bar for drinks.
It was very luxuriant.
As they took off, Janus
was surprised at how fast it traveled. The Serpent zoomed over the water
at speeds of several hundred miles an hour! It hovered six yards above
the water, too! It was quite a ride!
Janus and Audrey were sitting
on a couch, pressing out a conversation. Abant was at the ship’s cockpit,
where Fox was having the time of his life piloting the craft! About a few
minutes through the trip, Abant had to sit down in the co-pilot’s seat.
He rubbed his hands as if to get warm.
“What’ wrong?” Fox asked,
keeping his eyes on the horizon of the rising sun.
“A chill just ran down my
spine. Vako spoke to me- a change in fate.”
“What? Who’s Vako?”
“Something’s going to happen,
something out of her control.” Just then, ship jerked.
“That sounded like an impact...Someone’s
ramming us! Oh, great! Its gotta be those Truce Police and that pesky Inspector
Acano! Don’t worry, me and the Inspector go way back...”
“You’re a criminal?!?” Abant
jumped.
“Not really...Me and Nib
Anbolies, a crocodile hybrid, used to do hovercraft modifications ...that
were...illegal.”
“Such as?!?” Abant said,
wide eyed.
“Well...no freighter is
supposed to have plasma cannons, for example. Nib and I did it because
Mensan ships were always harassing us cargo runners! We had no defenses,
so what were we supposed to do?” The Serpent jolted by another impact.
“Calm down!” Fox said to
Abant. “If we hadn’t of done this, rabbit, we would be in quite a doomed
fix right now, wouldn’t we?” The craft jerked again. “Take the controls!”
he shouted, leaving the cockpit with only Abant sitting there.
Abant grabbed the controls.
“What?!? I don’t know how to pilot this thing!!!”
“Just fake it!” Fox yelled
back as he ran to the main deck of the ship.
Janus stood up, “What was
that?”
Fox answered as he ran to
a porthole. “Truce Police! They’re trying to...” There was a pause as Fox
peeked outside one of the circular portholes.
“What?” Audrey said.
“That’s not Acano!! That’s
a Mensan GALL-Battletank!”
“Huh?” Janus and Audrey
rushed to the portholes by Fox.
Abant overheard Fox’s words, and he became terrified.
“They’re firing ion beams
at us!” Fox shouted. “Don’t worry! Ain’t no way they’re gonna sink the
Thunder Serpent!” He ran to a ladder, climbing it to the top deck.
“Who’s worried?!?” Audrey
gulped.
“Kid with the funky hair!”
Fox shouted from above.
“Yeah?” Janus shouted back.
“Get up here!” Janus instantly
climbed up the ladder and found a strange deck full of three cannons on
each side the rectangular room. There was also a cannon on the front and
back of the deck, making the Thunder Serpent able to fire in virtually
all directions with her eight powerful weapons. However, the cannons didn’t
shoot cannonballs, but blue, electrified-plasma bolts. Fox took a
hold of a cannon. “Now watch me, cause your rabbit friend can’t pilot my
ship worth a darn! I’m gonna have to go back down there!”
All cannons were sticking
out large square-windows, to which the target could be seen from inside.
Fox quickly aimed the cannon and fired! A blast so loud it was almost painful
to the ears burst from the cannon in answer the the fire. A large, blue-glowing
plasma bolt rocketed to the Mensan craft and smashed into its metallic
hull. As they would return fire, Fox desperately tried to show Janus how
to reload the cannons with fusion shells as fast as he could. “See?” Fox
asked, not caring if Janus understood or not, “Alright! I gotta go-” Fox
jumped down the side of the ladder and ran back to the cockpit.
He ran past Audrey, “What
is going on?!?” She demanded to know. Fox said nothing, racing back to
Abant.
“AHAHAH!!!” Abant had no
clue as to what to do in order to pilot the hovercraft.
Fox burst into the room,
shoving Abant aside. “Look out, rabbit!” he said, retaking the controls.
“Can’t you use some of your sorcery to save our skins?” Fox shouted.
Fox turned hard left, ramming
the Serpent into the small GALL-Battletank. He turned his head to see over
his shoulder. “Good ‘ol rabbit,” Fox said to himself as he saw Abant had
already left to do his tricks.
Suddenly, the Mensan soldiers
inside the squad craft were stunned at the sight of Abant standing on top
of the Thunder Serpent! His Onyx-Blade was glowing white with blue around
it again. Icebergs popped up from the sea, forcing the Mensan craft to
veer in every direction. They made a hard left- too hard. The Mensan craft
tumbled over itself. It then smacked into a huge iceberg and exploded in
a brilliant fireball.
Janus opened the hatch from
the top deck and helped Abant climb back in. “That was amazing!”
“That was magic,” he said.
Abant smiled and put his paw on Janus’s shoulder, “All in good time, Janus,
and you, too, will become a mage.”
“How do you know?”
“Don’t ask...”
Abant, Janus, and Audrey
headed for the cockpit where Fox Sage was whooping and hollering in their
moment of triumph! “Thanks, rabbit! I owe you one!”
